| Senior Choir | ||

The senior choir was organized under the leadership of the late Bishop King David Johnson in 1960. The organist, at the time, was the late, First Lady, Dorcas Johnson. Every First Sunday, when the doors of the church were open, you would find the First Lady, the late Elder Ida L. Bailey, the late Mother Alice Gray, the late Rosa Lee Lewis and the late Asa Batten accompanied by Minister Bessie Brown, Mother Elenora Jones, General Mother Delma Gardner, Sister Loretta Gaston, Minister Sheraldine Watson, Sister Sarah Taliaferro and Sister Mary Holloway marching and singing the song - "He Didn't Bring Us This Far to Leave Us." The first senior choir was robed during that time. So, as God was wih the first senior choir, He's with us today. We do thank God today for those who paved the way for the present senior choir. The present senior choir was formed with nine members; (Deacon Joseph Holloway, Sister Roxie Crawley, Sister Mable Taliaferro, Sister Della Seward, Bro. Larry Wood, Sister Beatrice Wood, Sister Elizabeth Sharp, Sister Mary Holloway, and Deacon Wesley Keys, Jr.) in 1999 under the leadership of our new pastor, Bishop Nathaniel Johnson, who is our organist and the son of our former Paster, the late Bishop King David Johnson. As time passed, the Lord sent others to join us in lifting his name in songs. In the year 2000, we purchased new robes and had a dedication service. Our mission is to praise God through songs. We have choir rehearsal every First Saturday and sing on Frst Sundays. Occasionally, Bishop would ask the senior choir to accompany him to other churches. Accompanying him, you will find the following choir members: Sister Evelyn Monk, Sister Roxie Crawley, Sister Mable Taliaferro, Sister Della Seward, Sister Beatrice Wood, Sister Roxie Godwin,Sister Geraldine Liggins, Evangelist Annie Wilkins, Sister Sylvia Smith, Sister Ruth Murray, Sister Portia Birchette, Deacon Joseph Holloway Sr., Brother Charles Jones Sr., Brother Wesley Keys, Brother Carey Liggins, Brother William Robinson, Brother Willie Mitchell and Brother Larry Wood. Our past presidents since 1960 were the late First Lady, Dorcas Johnson, Mother Elenora Jones, Minister Sheraldine Watson, Sister Della Seward and Deacon Joseph Holloway. Our Secretaries since 1960 were the late Elder Ida L. Bailey and Mother Elnora Jones. |
